I am sure that doing a lot of weaving helps but in terms of the dimensionality this is probably the first piece I have done where that has been a significant factor in the design. The Mermaid was like a fairy tale, simplified and stylized similar to the sheep sampler but a little more detailed. The dimensional illusion is primarily a factor of value placement but I am sure that getting more comfortable with what I can achieve with the weaving helps too! In the case of the Mangos I used color and value to help them appear more dimensional. Since MH is a combination of illusions of reality and fantasy combined it will hopefully move back and forth between them. It is a tricky road to follow so we will see.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10879607915302977990noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2561269088778501215.post-49776250504499895152013-05-21T09:13:10.804-07:002013-05-21T09:13:10.804-07:00Janette,

I see a vast difference between MH and, say, the mermaid in the interpretation of a drawn design in tapestry. Do you think the tapestry diary has enhanced your technique in significant ways? I am especially captivated with the achievement of depth in this piece in the rounding of the mangos and the bowl and in the apparently three-dimensional appearance of the foliage. It is truly marvelous!!mleehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07036171621000871356noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2561269088778501215.post-82012560585562362532013-05-21T08:29:45.408-07:002013-05-21T08:29:45.408-07:00Your blog post was very helpful.
